Planning
We wanted to do just that…and we bought it! We were surprised when our dream house came on the market. Was the house as beautiful as we always thought? YES! We have a blended family, including 5 children. We moved in before summer 2023. Our living space begins on the 2nd floor, so we decided to take advantage of the garage area and make a Kid’s Space, a gym for the adults and a room for 100 rods and reels. (seriously!) All went according to plan since we knew a General Contractor that we trusted. First Choice Home Services of Pinellas had successfully completed projects for us in our old home. The finished spaces on our garage level were absolutely perfect…until Hurricane Milton came to call in October 2024!
Kitchen Design
Our new home had everything our blended family of three boys and two girls could ever want. Besides the beautiful interior, the pool is spacious enough for kids and adults to enjoy the water at the same time…minus any impromptu cannon balls! Plus our long boardwalk out to Boca Ciega Bay leads to a cosy place to sit comfortably and soak up the sun or slip into the Bay’s blue water.
Completed Kitchen
This home was built in 1982 and had never been swamped with water until Milton. Thankfully our living area begins on the 2nd floor because the garage floor had about 4 feet of water damage throughout. All the previous work completed by First Choice Home Services when they created the Kid’s Space, the adult gym and the Rod and Reel room became one soggy mess.
Kitchen Design
The Question remained: what could we possibly change to keep this problem from happening again? We consulted our friends at First Choice Home Services and found the solution in a product they highly recommended called WoodPlank. No drywall or insulation would be used to rebuild. Instead, this special material is placed over block or wood walls with an eight inch compatible panel at the floor level. If another severe storm comes to call, then afterward the bottom panels will be removed from all walls and large fans brought in to dry out. Everything will dry completely, without the expense of drywall removal or mold remediation. There will be no soggy drywall and insulation to deal with ever again. Our problem was solved and the new material used is surprisingly beautiful!
We appreciate that First Choice Home Services brought this viable alternative to our attention. You, too, can trust this innovative team to make a difference with your home remodeling projects. Call today: 727 313-1469
