FIRE and One Other Near Disaster!

I could never have imagined what the damage would be from this fire!  Thankfully there was a closed door which helped contain the fires spread, but smoke and soot spread everywhere the fire did not. This destruction took a toll on me in the amount of time and effort necessary for me to regain normalcy. Thankfully, there really was a light at the end of the tunnel!

I have a job that I enjoy and am able to work from home.  I was tired of apartment living and so a few years ago I purchased my home, in part because it had a converted garage to bring in income.  I thought it was a nearly perfect situation because the house split the outdoor spaces into two and provided privacy.  What could possibly go wrong?

On that fateful day I was out of town.  My tenant came home to the fire in progress and when he opened the door, air fed the fire which exploded into flames. The cause was never determined and thankfully no one was hurt. Of course I came rushing home to find the former garage so badly damaged that it needed to be taken down to the studs; plus the clean up needed in my part of the house included new floors and much more. My immediate goal was to contact my homeowners insurance and see if they could help me find a reputable contractor. 

This was where a near disaster happened. The insurance company sent me a list of approved, licensed, contractors and I chose one.  The work began and nothing went well, including not showing up, not returning my calls, not following the plans and generally making everything worse.  I reached out to my Facebook friends and that’s when I learned from several people about First Choice Home Services of Pinellas.  They are known for being Old School!
